Burlap and fabric stoles:
There is no hard and fast rule for how long a stole should be. It is a matter of personal preference. Some people like their stoles to reach just below their knees; others like them to be nearly as long as their robes.
Below is a chart of the APPROXIMATE length of stoles on people of various heights, bearing in mind that there is a lot of variability:

This stole started as a
burlap coffee sack
The burlap for this stole is sourced from a coffee producer near my studio in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont. Rather than sending it to the landfill, the roaster makes these stoles available to the community.
and has been lovingly transformed
into a stole
I carefully wash, iron, and prepare the burlap sacks to be transformed into clergy stoles. Text that was printed on the coffee sack is often still visible to some degree; slubs, small holes, and slight irregularities add additional character.

Your stole will be made from a burlap sack that was used to transport raw coffee beans to the coffee roaster. Many hands have been involved along the way.
The reverse of the stole will have a label that provides not only care instructions but also lists the many places the coffee sack has been - where the burlap bag was made, where the coffee was grown, where it was roasted, and where the stole was made.
We are all connected, and this label is designed to help the wearer feel connected to the other hands that have touched this fabric along its journey.

This stole will arrive packaged in a tin-tie bag similar to those often used to package coffee beans. Not only does this fully compostable packaging protect the stole during shipping, it also provides a fun hint about the stole's origin.

created to last
This stole is made with a tapered neck, approximately 2 1/2" at the neck, 4 1/2" for most of the length. Length can be anywhere from 44" to approximately 52" from the neck to the end.
Stole is fully lined with P.E.T. felt (made from recycled soda bottles) for stability, backed with a soft 100% cotton. Not reversible.
